The democratization of social media allows for more participation in news that ever. I strongly agree with this statement because the traditional form of journalism is steadily fading. One of the cons of this is that people can hide the information they might know to make people agree with their point of view. The tragedy of the commons reading is an excellent example of this. They can pick and choose which information they use so they way they present the message will have an effect on how the information is perceived. The other con of this is that it is not as refined as the traditional form of journalism. In the media/news literacy reading it shows a lot of different options about the topic. However, I think it’s too much information. Instead of giving multiple options it would be better to just give one good example. One of the pros of the democratization of social media is that it allows people more opportunities to be involved in news and media. Another pro of the democratization of social media is that it allows people to be more aware of the news in a quicker way.
